Living through a hot summer without AC may seem impossible but, it’s something our grandparents survived through! Here are some great ways to beat the heat this summer.
Drink lots of water
Aim to consume at least 8-10 glasses of water per day when the temperature rises up to keep your body hydrated. Make it a point to drink water with every meal and throughout the day to maintain your body temperature. Caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea, and soda can increase dehydration, so it’s best to stick with water.
Cut down on kitchen time
Standing in a hot and stuffy kitchen on a sweltering day can be torturous. Opt for meals that can be made quickly and easily so as to reduce cooking time. A frozen meal like Kawan Paratha can be made in just 3 minutes, giving you a full and nutritious meal in no time, without having to sweat it out in a hot kitchen.
When the heat gets intolerable, stay indoors whenever you can and avoid direct sunlight or on hot asphalt surfaces. Be sure to protect children and pets as they may dehydrate easily and be more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
Spray bottles are a lifesaver during the hot summer days. Fill a spray bottle with water and keep it in the refrigerator for a quick refreshing spray to your face every now and then. A damp washcloth can also be a handy item to cool your body down.
Soak your feet
Your feet contain an important pulse point which makes them ideal to focus on when you want to cool down. Soaking your feet in cold water will give you instant relief from the heat and can also be helpful if your feet tends to swell up in hot weather.
